We are looking for an Asia Financial Controller to lead the integration and ongoing financial management of our newly acquired entities in Vietnam, China, India, Japan, and our newly established entities in Singapore and Taiwan. This role is ideal for a strategic and results-oriented leader who is hands-on, and willing to work with different time zones. We are looking for a strong change management leader, who has experience with ERP implementation, implementing financial processes and knowledge of accounting rules.The Asia Financial Controller, reporting to the CFO in Canada, is responsible for ensuring alignment with corporate processes across various countries in Asia. This role involves overseeing financial operations in Vietnam, China, and India, where teams are managed in-house by a Finance Manager. In Japan, accounting is handled both in-house and by external consultants, while Taiwan and Singapore rely entirely on external consultants. The position requires a strategic leader capable of navigating these diverse setups and ensuring seamless integration and alignment with corporate processesKey Responsibilities/Major Tasks/Principal AccountabilityAccounting and Internal Controls• Ensures alignment of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls across Asia entities with corporate standards and local statutory requirements.• Analyzes financial statements for Asia entities and communicate variances to corporate and local leadership to identify potential risks and opportunities.• Support the rollout of D365 ERP, in collaboration with corporate team.• Coordinates the annual statutory and corporate audit for Asia entities, with support of local and corporate accounting teams.• Coordinates with the corporate office and proactively identifies and communicates regional statutory accounting and compliance matters to the CFO.Treasury• Ensures compliance for cash requirements and movement across the group, and manage cash needs for entities without internal accounting teams.• Ensures effective internal controls over all cash transactions and bank accesses.Tax Compliance• Ensures accurate and timely completeness of all local compliance filings.• Collaborates with the global tax team to monitor adherence to the company’s transfer pricing policies across all intercompany transactions in Asia.Business Partnering• Partners with regional business leads and the VP Asia, along with the corporate FP&A team, in addressing operational and strategic financial requests.Lead change• Influence a high-performing regional accounting team, ensuring alignment with company values and strategic goals.• Identify competency gaps and align training to support regional growth.• Promote a collaborative and inclusive team environment across all regions with a focus on excellence and continuous improvement.

Critical Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required• 10+ years of experience working in a similar role at a multi-national corporation.• Experience with local GAAPs adjustment with a foreign corporate office• Expert in process optimisation and alignment• We are seeking for a hands-on manager who thrives in a dynamic environment and is eager to lead by example. This role requires someone who is not only capable of strategic oversight but also ready to roll up their sleeves and contribute directly to operations when needed.• Effective influencer and communicator with strong change management skills. Must manage time effectively, work independently, prioritize assignments, and have a problem-solving mentality.• Capable of adapting with the different cultural differences in all Averna regions (Asia, Europe and North American)• Fluency in English and Vietnamese required to speak with Canadian and Asia counterparts• Advanced knowledge of Excel• Knowledge in statutory financial accounting rules in 1 of the countries where Averna has entities - an asset• Experience in implementation of an ERP such as D365 - an assetTravel and availability requirements• Travel within the region and internationally up to 25% will be required. • On-boarding will be partly in Montreal, Canada for few weeks.• Open and available to working evenings for meetings with corporate teammates when needed.
