Live Payments is seeking an experienced Backend Developer to join our growing/multinational team. Reporting directly to our Vietnam-based Tech Lead, the Backend Developer will work closely with the development team to design and build applications for our growing product portfolios. Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement high-throughput, low-latency backend services using Node.js and GolangBuild and maintain high-performance APIs with strict performance and reliability requirementsDesign and maintain scalable microservices capable of handling high transaction volumesEnsure idempotency, consistency, and fault tolerance across processing flowsImplement robust error handling, retry strategies, and reconciliation processesWork closely with DevOps teams to improve observability, monitoring, and alertingParticipate in architecture and performance design reviewsConduct code reviews with a strong focus on performance, security, and reliability

Required SkillsStrong backend development experience with Node.js and GolangDeep understanding of concurrency, asynchronous programming, and multithreadingProven experience building high-performance or high-traffic systemsStrong knowledge of RESTful API, socket protocol, design and backend architectureExperience with relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL/SQL Server) and transactional data modellingUnderstanding of distributed systems concepts (timeouts, retries, circuit breakers, idempotency)Solid experience with performance profiling and optimisationFamiliarity with security best practices for backend systemsInfrastructure-as-Code experience (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)Professional English communicationDesirable SkillsExperience working on payment gateways, fintech, or financial systemsKnowledge of AS2805, ISO 8583, ISO 20022 or equivalent payment message formats.Knowledge of PCI DSS or payment security standardsExperience handling peak traffic, failover, and disaster recoveryKnowledge of rate limiting, throttling, and traffic shapingDesign systems that operate reliably across multiple cloud providers (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure)Optimise system performance across CPU, memory, I/O, and network latency
