- To ensure that all Rules and Regulations regarding safety at sea are complied with at all times.
- To use all navigational aids and safety equipment and to steer the boat, at all times, in a manner which safeguards all passengers, crew and company assets.
- To ensure that boats are anchored, moored and tied up in a manner which ensures their safety, and that of passengers and cargo, at all times.
- To ensure that the recommended speed is maintained within the lagoon, proximity to the islands and to Male’ / Airport.
- To respect boat schedules at all times in order to ensure maximum guest satisfaction.
- To clean and maintain the hotel’s boats in accordance with departmental standards and manufacturer’s instructions.
- To report all defects to the Department Head in accordance with hotel procedures and to follow-up on such requests in order to ensure that the down-time of boats is kept to a minimum.
- To report all work performed and any abnormal incidents to the Boat Mechanic and Department Head.
- To ensure that all work areas are kept clean and tidy, and that boat tools and equipment are handled and used according to departmental procedure and manufacturer’s instructions.
- To ensure that all the boat’s ropes are maintained in accordance with departmental standards.
- To make and maintain the boat’s moorings and to keep watch on boats at anchor or moored in order to prevent them from damage.
- To take part in rescue or salvage operations, should the need arise.
- To ensure that fuel supplies are collected and loaded onboard in order to ensure that the boat is fueled in accordance with departmental standards.
- To assist guests on and off the boat in a professional and courteous manner, and to ensure that the boat crew do the same.
- To address guests by name in accordance with the hotel’s Guest Recognition Program, and to ensure that the boat crew do the same.
- To ensure that guest luggage and supplies are loaded in a manner which will prevent damage to luggage, supplies and the boat.
- To ensure that the weight of boat cargo and number of passengers do not exceed the limits laid down either by the manufacturer or the hotel.
- To ensure the boat’s fridge (if applicable) has supplies of fresh drinking water at all times.
- To ensure that clean, fresh cold towels are available from the boat’s fridge (if applicable).
- To ensure that all boat Certifications and Passes are current and valid in accordance with Government Marine Law, and to advise the Department Head and the Deputy General Manager of National Affairs prior to the expiry of the same.
- To monitor staff usage of boats in accordance with departmental procedure, and to report any breaches or irregular incidents to the Department Head.
- To assist in all general works of the Launch Department as required.
