Role Overview:The Research Integrity and Intellectual Property Officer at VinUniversity is responsible for establishing and maintaining the highest standards of research ethics, integrity, and intellectual property management across all university research activities. This role oversees comprehensive ethics review processes, ensures compliance with international research standards, and protects the university's intellectual assets. The position plays a critical role in safeguarding VinUniversity's research reputation by promoting responsible research practices while maximizing the value and impact of research outputs through effective IP management.Key Responsibilities:1. Research Ethics & Integrity Management• Manage research ethics and integrity processes.• Develop, implement, and continuously improve research ethics policies and procedures.• Coordinate and support the Research Ethics Committee in reviewing research proposals.• Provide guidance on research integrity issues including conflicts of interest, authorship disputes, and research misconduct allegations.• Monitor adherence to international research ethics standards and best practices.2. Intellectual Property Management• Oversee IP management activities.• Develop and implement comprehensive IP policies and strategies aligned with institutional goals.• Manage the disclosure, assessment, protection, and commercialization of university IP assets.• Coordinate patent filings, trademark registrations, and copyright protections.• Negotiate and manage IP-related agreements including licenses, material transfer agreements, and non-disclosure agreements.3. Training & Professional Development• Conduct training workshops on research ethics and IP management.• Develop educational materials and resources on responsible research conduct.• Design and implement specialized training for different research disciplines and stakeholder groups.• Provide one-on-one consultations for researchers on specific ethics or IP concerns.• Keep the research community informed about evolving standards and regulations.4. Compliance Monitoring & Reporting• Ensure financial and regulatory compliance for research activities.• Develop and implement systems to track and document compliance with relevant regulations.• Conduct regular audits and assessments of research practices across departments.• Prepare comprehensive compliance reports for university leadership and external authorities.• Implement corrective actions when compliance issues are identified.5. Research Agreement Review• Review and negotiate research-related agreements to ensure protection of university interests.• Provide guidance on IP clauses in collaborative research agreements and industry partnerships.• Coordinate with legal counsel on complex contractual matters related to research.• Maintain records of all research agreements and monitor compliance with terms.6. Policy Development & Implementation• Develop, review, and update policies related to research integrity, ethics, and IP management.• Ensure alignment with national and international regulations and standards.• Communicate policy changes effectively to the research community.• Provide interpretations and guidance on policy implementation in specific research contexts.7. Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration• Liaise with external regulatory bodies, funding agencies, and partner institutions on ethics and IP matters.• Coordinate with academic departments to address discipline-specific ethics and IP considerations.• Collaborate with the technology transfer office on commercialization of research outputs.• Represent the university on ethics and IP committees and forums at national and international levels.8. Data Management & Security• Develop guidelines for ethical data collection, storage, sharing, and disposal.• Advise on data protection requirements for sensitive research.• Collaborate with IT services to ensure appropriate data security measures.• Monitor compliance with data management plans and privacy regulations.
