Prepare extract samples as requested for customer briefs, applications needs, technology performance assessment, QC standards, physical testing, etc.Formulate new basic extract creations or modify existing extracts to meet customer requirements, internal testing needs, or new technology development for multiple extract typesManage extract data and recipe documentation for food productsParticipate in the evaluation of extraction materials developed internally or from external sources and assess potential for extract creationExecute daily brief-related tasks and fully manage assigned projects and provide extracts which meet all defined customer needs which meet good manufacturing practices, sample scale-up, production requirements, regulatory compliance, etc. as well as leading customer visits and travelling to customers when requiredServe as technical expert and advisor to marketing, sales, and customers/visitors for ingredient and product performance for multiple extract typesParticipate and learn about all areas of the company directly related to executing customer briefs(analytical chemistry, sensory, consumer understanding, regulatory, flavour delivery, manufacturing, etc.)Provide technical support resolve extract production issues and customer complaints with complete ownership of created extractsMaintain a safe, clean and organized lab environment in accordance with EH&S policies and hold others accountable for following these guidelines

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:Polytechnic or B.S. in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology and more than 6 years’ experience in a food applications lab, production, or related areaMaster’s Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology and 2 – 3 years’ experience in a food applications lab, or production, or related area (preferred)TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:Demonstrates expert level tasting skills with a basic level ability to understand how to adjust a extract formulation in the direction needed for modificationsBasic knowledge of raw materials with a basic ability to formulate multiple extract types to deliver performance for customer briefs, problem solving processes, research and development needs, etc.Basic ability to interface with customers and effectively discuss the extract creation needs for multiple extract typesProject management skills with the ability to successfully lead selected development projectsBasic knowledge of local and regional regulatory requirements for extract productsAbility to prepare and present basic extract creation related technical presentationsBasic knowledge of application equipment, ingredients, and manufacturing procedures for the production of food productsBasic knowledge of extract manufacturing equipment and processesAbility to instruct extract assistantsFUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES:Drive for Results Customer Focus Peer RelationshipsProblem SolvingLearning on the FlyPriority SettingPlanningDecision QualityCreativityOrganizational Agility
