Position Summary: The General Accountant plays a crucial role in the finance department, overseeing the accurate and timely execution of accounting tasks, including general ledger management, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This position requires an individual with a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and a thorough understanding of financial regulations. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in financial reporting, budget analysis, and tax compliance within a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Chief Accountant in the preparation of any and all reporting and analysis requirements regardless of reporting frequency including daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual and ad-hoc. This includes postings of vouchers.
- Conduct variance analysis and financial statement reviews to identify discrepancies or areas for improvement.
- Manage the budgeting process, working closely with various departments to compile and analyze financial data for budget preparation and review.
- Ensure information presented in all reports is accurate and reflective of actual business transactions.
- Ensure all reports are prepared on a timely basis meeting all deadlines and all files and reports are properly filed for future reference.
- Assist in conducting surprise spot-checks on General Cashier’s float on a periodic basis.
- Assist in conducting surprise stock-count inspection in addition to/ during the month-end stock-count
- Assist in the preparation of all groundwork required for all statutory audit and tax/fee requirements.
- Provide assistance during the audit (internal and external) review process.
- Administer all tax filing and government reporting procedures to ensure accurate, timely information is provided in compliance with laws and regulations.
- Month end reconciliation of Balance Sheet Accounts.
- Prepare Bank reconciliation of online statements (daily & monthly).
- Preparation of Monthly assigned Journals and allocation of shared expenses among departments.
- Assist in compilation of departmental budget and forecast.
- Be entirely flexible and adapt to rotate within the different sub departments of the Accounting & Finance Department.
- Assist in carrying out quarterly, bi-yearly, yearly inventory of operating equipment.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment to enhance team productivity and professional growth.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties as assigned by the Chief Accountant and management.

Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with CPA certification or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a senior accounting role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
- Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and tax compliance.
- Proficiency in accounting software and systems, with strong Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.
