YOUR MISSION:As a Purchasing Manager, you will lead the purchasing function for trade goods, ensuring a reliable, diverse, compliant, high-quality product supply and cost-effective supply base that supports business objectives and meets customer expectations. You will be responsible for defining sourcing strategies, managing key supplier relationships, driving commercial value and developing the Purchasing team to deliver operational excellence and sustainable growth.This role requires strong commercial acumen, negotiation capability, and market awareness, combined with a structured approach to supplier and contract management.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Strategic Planning & Execution:• Develop annual purchasing plans and budgets in collaboration with senior management• Support implementation of sourcing strategies across different product categories• Monitor market trends and competitive landscape to inform strategic decision-making• Lead special projects related to supplier consolidation, new market entry, or process optimization2. Strategic Relationship Management• Oversee supplier performance management and ensure delivery against KPIs (OTIF, quality, cost, compliance)• Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, ensuring value creation through Joint Business Planning (JBP), rebates, and trade fund management• Ensure compliance with legal, quality, and ethical sourcing standards, in collaboration with QAQC and Legal• Manage risk in the supply base by diversifying sources and developing contingency plans• Review and approve contracts, ensuring optimal commercial terms and risk management• Escalate and resolve complex supplier issues that require senior management intervention3. Commercial Performance Management• Set and monitor departmental targets for cost savings, supplier performance, and procurement efficiency• Analyze purchasing performance and provide regular reporting to senior management on key metrics and trends• Identify and capitalize on value enhancement opportunities across supplier portfolio• Ensure optimal budget utilization and cost management within purchasing operations4. Process Oversight & Governance• Establish and maintain purchasing policies, procedures, and approval frameworks to ensure compliance and efficiency• Monitor team performance against key metrics including cost savings, supplier performance, and process adherence• Review and approve significant sourcing decisions and ensure alignment with category strategies• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance purchasing effectiveness and operational efficiency5. Team Leadership & Development• Lead, coach, and develop the Purchasing team (Specialists/Executives), fostering a high-performance culture• Set team objectives and KPIs, monitor progress, and provide regular feedback• Build functional expertise in sourcing, negotiation, compliance, and supplier management within the team• Promote continuous improvement and knowledge sharing to strengthen purchasing capabilities
