What’s the Job?
As Chief Engineer, you’ll lead the Engineering and Maintenance team to ensure the hotel operates smoothly, safely, and efficiently — supporting both guest comfort and the property’s refined design aesthetic.
You’ll oversee all technical operations, preventive maintenance, and sustainability initiatives, ensuring Rêve HCMC remains in pristine condition from pre-opening setup through daily operations. Your leadership will inspire a culture of safety, quality, and excellence that reflects the sophistication and creativity of the Vignette Collection by IHG.
Your Day to Day
People
Lead, train, and motivate the Engineering team to maintain hotel facilities and systems to the highest standard.
Plan, assign, and supervise daily maintenance tasks to ensure smooth operations and quick resolution of issues.
Support recruitment, development, and performance management of the team, recognizing and rewarding excellence.
Foster collaboration with other departments, ensuring proactive support to operational and guest-facing teams.
Maintain team discipline, grooming, and safety compliance according to IHG and local regulations.
Guest Experience
Ensure all facilities, utilities, and equipment are in top condition to provide guests with a comfortable and seamless experience.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and guest concerns, ensuring timely and effective solutions.
Work closely with Front Office and Housekeeping to ensure guest areas are always well maintained and visually appealing.
Support the implementation of energy-saving and sustainability projects that enhance the guest experience while minimizing environmental impact.
Pre-opening & Responsible Business
Oversee and coordinate all pre-opening technical setup and commissioning of hotel systems, equipment, and infrastructure.
Manage vendor relationships, inspections, and handovers for all mechanical, electrical, and civil works during pre-opening.
Establish preventive maintenance programs and standard operating procedures before the hotel opening.
Ensure all building systems comply with IHG brand standards, fire and life safety codes, and local regulatory requirements.
Lead the implementation of IHG’s “Journey to Tomorrow” sustainability goals, promoting green operations and waste reduction.
Ensure hotel security and safety systems (fire alarm, CCTV, access control) are operational and regularly tested.
Financial
Prepare and manage the Engineering department budget, including maintenance expenses, utilities, and project investments.
Control costs through efficient scheduling, supplier negotiations, and inventory management.
Monitor energy consumption and introduce initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
Support the General Manager in forecasting capital expenditures and lifecycle replacement planning.
Accountability
You’ll be responsible for the overall performance, safety, and appearance of all engineering systems and facilities within the hotel. This includes guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house, and critical building infrastructure.
You will also play a key leadership role during pre-opening, ensuring all systems are installed, tested, and maintained to Rêve HCMC’s exacting standards.
Yêu Cầu Công Việc
Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Building Management, or related technical field.
Minimum 4–6 years of hotel engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and fire safety systems.
Experience in pre-opening setup, building commissioning, and contractor coordination is highly preferred.
Strong leadership, analytical, and project management skills.
Professional certification or trade license in relevant technical fields (HVAC, electrical, or mechanical) preferred.
Proficiency in English and Vietnamese, both written and spoken.
A collaborative, hands-on leader with a problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.
