You will be responsible for driving system reliability, high availability, and backend scalability in a high-traffic environment. You will coach and grow backend engineers while working closely with product, QA, mobile/web, and SRE teams to ensure smooth execution and delivery. Technical & Delivery Leadership
Lead the design and development of scalable backend microservices using Golang, gRPC, and MySQL.
Drive system design reviews and propose architectural changes (e.g., microservices refactoring, data pipeline optimization).
Own core backend domains with high availability and business-critical logic.
Ensure system performance and reliability through Redis Cluster, Kafka, and Cadence Workflow.
Guide incident prevention and response; run blameless postmortems and improve alert coverage.
Champion engineering best practices, including code quality, CI/CD, security, and service modularity.
Support system modernization initiatives such as decomposing monoliths, isolating bounded contexts, and enabling service autonomy.
Execution & Process
Own sprint planning and project delivery within the 2-week sprint cycle.
Partner with Product Manager, QA Lead, and Mobile/Web EMs to align on scope and unblock delivery.
Set and track technical KPIs: latency, system uptime, alert noise, test coverage.
Drive production readiness reviews before release and manage hotfix processes.
Continuously improve team’s development workflows (e.g., trunk-based dev, feature toggles, canary release) to reduce lead time and increase deployment safety.
People & Team Management
Coach, mentor, and develop backend engineers across levels (Junior → Staff).
Facilitate regular 1:1s, goal setting, performance reviews.
Build a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and collaboration.
Work with HR and Tribe Lead to recruit and grow a high-performing backend team.
Define and evolve career frameworks and competency models for backend engineers in alignment with company-wide levelling and progression tracks.
