The Head of Design is responsible for building a high-performing design organization and elevating AhaSlides’ product quality across UX, UI, accessibility, research, and design systems. This role oversees design strategy, execution, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver scalable and delightful product experiences—especially to trainers and enterprise users with complex workflows.You will champion high-quality interaction design, push the maturity of our design system, drive feature discoverability improvements, shape AI-native user journeys, and ensure consistency across all product surfaces. Key Responsibilities1. Design Leadership & Team DevelopmentLead, mentor, and grow a multidisciplinary team of UX, UI, research, and design system designers.Set up performance frameworks, skill development plans, OKRs, and 1:1 growth pathways.Foster a culture of craft excellence, user-centered thinking, and evidence-based decision-making. 2. Product Experience StrategyShape the end-to-end product experience of AhaSlidesWork closely with stakeholders to turn user insights into product opportunities, backlog prioritization, and product direction. 3. Design System & DesignOpsOwn the Aha Experience System: design tokens, component architecture, interaction patterns, UI states, motion, and accessibility standards.Drive DesignOps to enable faster, more consistent delivery across teams.Establish QA/Design review processes, documentation, and governance to maintain product-wide consistency.Collaborate with engineering to ensure accurate implementation of components and visual quality. 5. User Research & InsightsOversee the UX research function to generate actionable insights.Translate insights into frameworks, principles, and product decision inputs. 6. Accessibility & QualityEnsure all product experiences align with WCAG 2.1 AA visual and interaction standards.Improve the product’s clarity, readability, and inclusive experience for global users.Implement accessibility audits and drive improvements across all surfaces. 7. Cross-Functional ImpactPartner tightly with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Customer Success to deliver cohesive product experiences.Communicate design vision, priorities, and updates to leadership and stakeholders.Support GTM teams (Marketing, Sales, CS) with UX insights, product storytelling, and experience-aligned communications.
