From designing the world’s tallest buildings and longest spans to engineering inventive “jewel-box” structures and designing major expansion projects, we continually seek the best balance among the demands of form, function, sustainability, constructability, schedule and budget.The RoleThe BIM Modeler will create project deliverable 3D models and 2D drawings using Autodesk Revit as well as Thornton Tomasetti’s suite of internally developed interoperability tools. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable, passionate about BIM associated technologies and building structural systems, and able to work in an independent and self-directed manner in all aspects of the building design and document production process.Responsibilities• Create 3D models to a high level of accuracy with instruction, industry guidelines, and Thornton Tomasetti standards and practices.• Develop plans, sections, elevations, schedules and details from a 3D BIM model for projects of all sizes and technical complexities.• Clearly annotate, dimension, and detail 2D production drawings in conformance to Thornton Tomasetti standards and practices.• Set up and geo-locate multiple models for a single project.• Manage the BIM workflow including folder organization, sheet sets, plots, revisions, and transmittals.• Maintain structural BIM files for use in the structural design drawings (clean-up, audit, reference, troubleshooting).• Use software such as Bluebeam, BIM360/ACC, and Navisworks for project collaboration across multiple disciplines in a BIM environment.• Collaborate with engineers and PMs to coordinate BIM modeling content and approaches, model exchanges, quality control, and delivery.• Experience in collaborating with Architecture and MEP drawings/models is preferred.• Continued development of “best practices” for BIM.
